So you're planning a home birth!
You've made the leap, but now what?
How do you prepare your home?
What supplies will you need?
How will you get your partner or children involved?
What personal touches do you want to include to make your home birth experience meaningful to you?
How will you make sure your birth team is comfortable?
How will you cope with birth sensations if medications aren't an option?
How will you overcome any niggling fears about birth?

I truly believe for women with low-risk, normal pregnancies, birthing at home is the safest place to birth. If you're looking to have a low-intervention birth, then why go somewhere that is prone to a cascade of birth interventions. The cesarean rate in the country is outrageous.
Across the US, about 1 in 3 babies are born via cesarean birth. By birthing in a hospital, you are chancing major surgery that impacts your future births as well. Compare this to only about 5% of home births result in cesarean. For pregnancies that are uncomplicated, birthing at home is just as safe, if not safer, than birthing in a hospital.

But birthing at home not only comes with stigma, it's also practically unsupported. By choosing to birth at home, you're choosing to be more involved in the birth process. Not only because you'll get to experience the full range of birth sensations and hormones by birthing unmedicated, but there's a lot more you need to prepare, than say packing a duffle bag, if you were planning a hospital birth.

If you don't yet have the answers to the questions above and are looking for support as you prepare for your home birth, you would benefit from Homemade Birth coaching services.

I loved my unmedicated home birth experience after a disappointing hospital birth with an epidural. I know the extra hurdles you have to jump through to pull off a home birth and I want to make it easier for others. I want to alleviate the overwhelm and fear, and help you get to a state of mind where you feel ready, fearless, and excited for birth to begin! When you choose to birth at home, you are empowered to make a lot of the decisions at your birth. I want to support women who wish to birth at home to transform their birth into a personalized experience.
